Jonathan Drouin has decided to change his sweater number from 92 to 27 in hopes of having better luck with the Montreal Canadiens.

Instead of Montreal Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin looking for a change of scenery on a new team he has decided to switch his sweater number from 92 to 27 in the hopes of bringing better luck to him.

Drouin, 27, previously wore sweater number 92 for the past 5 seasons. The number became available when defenceman Karl Alzner’s contract expired in July.

Why would Jonathan Drouin switch sweater numbers?

Jonathan Drouin wore number 27 in his junior days with the Halifax Mooseheads and when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2014-2017. He is hoping the change will bring him better luck and a big new contract.

Drouin in entering the final year of his 6-year contract that was worth $33 million. He has a lot to prove if he wants another long-term big deal.
