The Philadelphia Flyers are not expected to be a playoff team this year based off some early NHL Predictions for 2022-2023. But if they really struggle in the first quarter of the season, NHL trade rumors expect GM Chuck Fletcher to make some trades.
The Flyers will be without Ryan Ellis to start the NHL season and how will Carter Hart perform this coming season? If he struggles, the Flyers will be in big trouble.
What trades could the Philadelphia Flyers make?
Travis Konecny
It is believed Travis Konecny will be made available for a trade if the Flyers do indeed get off to a slow start.
Konecny, 25, has three more years left on his contract with a tradeable $5.5 million Flyers cap hit. His play has declined the past few seasons, so a change of scenery might do him well.
James van Riemsdyk
James van Riemsdyk has been in the rumor mill before. With this being his last year under contract with the Flyers, his $7 million salary cap hit can be moved if Philadelphia would be willing to eat half of his cap hit.
It is more than likely van Riemsdyk is a trade deadline deal, but he can help out a playoff contending team that has a need for a scorer.
It will be interesting to watch what the Philadelphia Flyers do this coming season. They have John Tortorella as the new coach and if the Flyers do not put up some wins early, GM Chuck Fletcher will likely make trades to save himself from being fired.
I think most Flyers fans would be all in for a tank year to get a shot at drafting Connor Bedard.
