The signing of goalie Jack Campbell has not worked out too well for the Edmonton Oilers so far this season and the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking like geniuses for not re-signing Campbell to a long-term deal.
In 18 games started this year, Campbell has a 9-7-1 record with a 3.69 goals against average and an awful .878 save percentage. Does Jack Campbell need a change of scenery? Is his contract tradeable?
Jack Campbell trade to Chicago in the works?
Elliotte Friedman was on the Jeff Marek Show and discussed Jack Campbell. Friedman stated that there are not many teams that will take on Campbell’s $5 million Oilers salary cap hit for the next four years.
Friedman went on to say in his piece that one team that might be a fit is the Chicago Blackhawks. The Oilers may have to eat a bit of Campbell’s cap hit if the Blackhawks would send back a defenseman in return.
The Oilers have interest in a Jake McCabe trade but reports are McCabe has the Oilers on his no-trade list.
If the Oilers do find a way to move out Campbell’s contract to Chicago, which goalie do they bring in to help out Stuart Skinner? It could be Carolina Hurricanes goalie Frederick Andersen. NHL trade rumors have the Hurricanes shopping Freddy.
