The Edmonton Oilers are desperately looking to trade for a defenseman. NHL trade rumors have the Oilers interested in Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and Nashville Predators dman Mattias Ekholm.
The Oilers would love to get their hands on Jakob Chychrun but they do not have the assets to make that trade. One defenseman they have inquired about is Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jake McCabe, but it appears he has no interest in being traded to the Oilers.
Jake McCabe turns down the Edmonton Oilers
Elliotte Friedman was on The Jeff Marek Show and reports Oilers GM Ken Holland is not one for panic moves but he is looking to trade for a defenseman and he called the Chicago Blackhawks about making a trade for Jake McCabe.
Friedman went on to say in his radio hit that he’s not convinced Jake McCabe to the Oilers is possible though. Friedman believes McCabe does not want to play in Canada as he does own a 7 team no-trade clause, so Holland will have to look somewhere else.
First of all, playing in the NHL is both an honor and a privilege. I am sick and tired of players picking where they would play. I DO NOT believe in the NMC or NTC. If one player gets it, they all should get it. Just because you perform better on the ice it shouldn’t make you think that you’ve ‘earned’ the right for a NMC. It just says that it’s only a job to you and that you don’t really care about winning. Well, it IS about winning….not whining.
Totally agree. Well said.
