Picture of Elias Lindholm. Will the Calgary Flames forward be traded to the Washington Capitals?
The latest NHL trade rumors have the Washington Capitals interested in Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm.

Elias Lindholm has been in the NHL trade rumors mill for a good chunk of the summer, but nothing has materialized yet.

It has been reported that Lindholm has no intention of re-signing with the Calgary Flames and that is why his name has been floating around in the rumor mill.

Lindholm, 28, is in the final year of his contract which has a salary cap hit of $4.85 million and he does not own a no-trade clause.

There have been reports linking Lindholm to the Boston Bruins, and it seems the Washington Capitals are also interested in the forward.

Will Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm be traded to the Washington Capitals?

Sammi Sibler of The Hockey News states in her piece online that if Elias Lindholm decides not to re-sign with the Calgary Flames, the Washington Capitals should be calling new GM Craig Conroy on what it would take to make a trade.

NHL trade rumors have the Capitals packaging draft picks or prospects and one of Evgeni Kuznetsov or Anthony Mantha to try and pry Lindholm away from Calgary.

What are Washington Capitals fans saying about a potential Elias Lindholm trade?

We DO NOT need Elias Lindholm. Let us develop our own players and embrace the rebuild that is coming.

Lindholm will be 29 soon, we need young players, not players exiting out of their prime. It is a pass for me. Boston can have him!

Calgary will find a way to re-sign him. They can’t keep losing key players every off-season.

  1. Perhaps not but the further this drags on you have to question the loyalty. I say he should be traded…hopefully, Conroy got the memo on what happened with Johnny hockey. Get the best deal and pull the pin.
