Gustav Nyquist trade
Gustav Nyquist will likely be traded at the NHL trade deadline. The Blue Jackets will be seeking draft picks in a Nyquist trade.

Columbus Blue Jackets management have let teams know that they will be sellers at the NHL trade deadline. They are looking to clean out some players to secure a bottom five spot in the NHL standings to get a shot at drafting potential generational talent Connor Bedard.

NHL trade rumors have been going around that the Blue Jackets are looking to trade Vladislav Gavrilov and now they have let teams know Gustav Nyquist is available for trade.

What could the Blue Jackets receive in a Gustav Nyquist trade?

Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch reports Gustav Nyquist will likely be traded at the NHL trade deadline.

Nyquist is an excellent two-way player and a penalty-kill specialist. Hedger speculates that he could fetch multiple picks in lower rounds or even a late first-round pick from a contender looking to bolster its depth up front.

Nyquist loves being in Columbus and could still re-sign there in the summer as a free agent. Right now, Blue Jackets management will be looking to trade pieces to enter the tank nation sweepstakes to draft Connor Bedard.

Nyquist, 33, has a Blue Jackets salary cap hit of $5 million. He was drafted 121st overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 4th round of the 2008 NHL entry draft. Currently over a career that spans 11 seasons, he has a total 419 points in 687 games played, and 21 playoffs points in 65 games played.
