Ben Chiarot’s name has been in the NHL rumors mill since the start of December. The asking price back then was a first round pick, and that has not changed. It is believed Chiarot will be traded this week, but who will pay the price?
Pierre LeBrun was on TSN’s Insider Trading and reports trade talks are heating on a Ben Chiarot trade. LeBrun states the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and St. Louis Blues all have interest.
LeBrun went on to say, the Habs want Flames prospect Jakob Pelletier for Chiarot, but the Flames do not want to give him up. The Canes do not own a first round pick in the 2022 NHL draft, so prospects is what the Canes can offer.
LeBrun finished his segment on Chiarot saying the Blues do not want to give up a first round pick in a Chiarot trade.
Chiarot was held out of tonight’s game against Arizona, you have to think a trade is coming sooner rather than later.
It’ll take more than just Chiarot to get Pelletier.
Montreal is probably going to have to settle for a second and a lesser prospect.
