The Edmonton Oilers are desperately looking to trade for a goalie. Marc-Andre Fleury is likely not a choice but NHL trade rumors are starting to make the rounds that the Oilers are interested in a Ville Husso trade.
Elliotte Friedman was on Sportnet’s 32 Thoughts Podcast and reports he has had people tell him that they suspect that the goalie the Oilers are interested in is Ville Husso.
Friedman went on to say, but if I’m the St. Louis Blues, even though Husso is an UFA, and will lose him for nothing in the offseason, they are trying to win the Stanley Cup.
With Jordan Binnington struggling the last few months, Husso is now the #1 goalie in St. Louis. With Binnington just starting a new long-term deal, his six-year, $36 million contract is not tradable at the moment.
Never say never to a Husso trade if the right offer came along from the Oilers, but the Blues need Husso right now to solidify a playoff spot and do the Blues want to trade Husso to a team chasing them for a playoff spot?
