NHL trade rumors were circulating at the NHL trade deadline that the Montreal Canadiens were very close to making a trade for Ottawa Senators forward Colin White.
Elliotte Friedman on his 32 Thoughts blog piece on Sportsnet reports the Habs and Sens had trade discussions about White and from Friedman’s sources they expected a trade to happen. The teams will likely revisit this trade after the 2022 NHL draft.
Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes was White’s former agent and knows the players well. If the Habs were to acquire White in the offseason, they will likely have to trade Christian Dvorak to free up the Habs salary cap space.
White, 25, was drafted 21st overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 1st round of the 2015 entry draft. White currently has a total 95 points in 215 games played, and 0 playoffs points in 1 game played.
