Patrick Johnston of The Province is reporting the Vancouver Canucks have a targeted number to re-sign Elias Pettersson this off-season, but what if the unthinkable happens and a team swoops in with an offer sheet for Pettersson?
Johnston states if you’re Seattle, you really should think about it. Throw a huge offer, one that, given the Canucks’ cap constraints, would make it very hard to match.
Johnston went on to say, if you’re Montreal, maybe you should think about it too. The Habs do have cap space and Marc Bergevin and Pat Brisson do have a long standing relationship.
Canadiens GM Bergevin is not afraid to upset other GM’s with an offer sheet, as he has done it before with Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho.
