Filip Forsberg free agency rumors
NHL trade rumors for May 14, 2022 feature the Nashville Predators and Filip Forsberg. Will the Preds be able to re-sign him or loose him to free agency?

Now that the Nashville Predators have been knocked out of the playoffs, the number one question all Preds fans are asking, will Filip Forsberg re-sign in Nashville or somewhere else when free agent frenzy starts in July?

Contract talks were put on hold once the NHL trade deadline ended and NHL rumors had both sides talking but they were no where near a deal.

The Predators are believed to be offering Forsberg an $8 million/year long-term deal and Forsberg’s camp is seeking somewhere between $9-$10 million/year.

Another sticking point could be GM David Poile’s dislike to giving out no-trade clause’s. Forsberg will likely seek one if he re-signs in Nashville.

The problem Nashville has like many other teams in the league is they already have a few players signed to long-term deals with a high AVV and will likely have to shed some Preds salary if Forsberg is re-signed.

Forsberg, 27, set NHL career highs with 42 goals, 42 assists and 84 points. He is a three-time 30-goal scorer and has 469 points (220 goals, 249 assists) in 566 NHL games.
