NHL trade rumors for March 20, 2022 feature a potential Filip Forsberg trade if the Nashville Predators can't sign him to a contract extension.

NHL trade rumors have been floating around about a potential Filip Forsberg trade since this past offseason when Forsberg and the Nashville Predators could not agree to a contract extension.

Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet’s 32 Thoughts segment and reports, Forsberg, who has been looking at getting a contract extension for much of the season, but negotiations with GM David Poile appear to be not going so well.

Friedman went on to say, I do feel David Poile has at least tested the market to see what it is for Forsberg. I don’t think he’s going to get traded, but I think the Predators are at least looking at the possibility.

The big question is, do the Predators risk not signing Filip Forsberg by the NHL trade deadline and losing him to free agency in the summer. Rumors are GM Poile does not want to pay any player on the Preds more than Roman Josi who has an AVV of $9.059 million and it is quite possible Forsberg could land a contract in the $10 million/year range in free agency.
