What will the Toronto Maple Leafs do with Morgan Rielly. Do they have the cap space to re-sign him or do the Leafs trade him?

With the young NHL defenceman like Darnell Nurse, Cale Makar, Seth Jones all signing big new long-term contracts of $9 million per season. The Toronto Maple Leafs now have a salary cap problem next year with Morgan Rielly.

The big question is, do the Leafs trade or re-sign Rielly? He will be due a big raise in his next contract and the Leafs just do not have the cap space to pay Rielly $7.5-$8 million year.

Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun reports the Leafs have a challenging decision to make. Do they sign Rielly? Do they let him walk a la Zach Hyman? And if they do sign him, which adds at least $3 million to a payroll that is already over the salary cap, who then goes to make up for the shuffled dollars.

Simmons went on to say that goalie Jack Campbell will be due a raise also which complicates things even more if Campbell has a season like he did last year.
