With NHL trade rumors floating around that Michael Del Zotto had requested a trade over his lack of playing time in Ottawa, the Senators have placed him on waivers.
The waivers come as a bit of a surprise since the Sens signed MDZ to a two-year contract this past offseason.
Del Zotto, 31, has two goals and six points in 10 games with the Senators this season. He posted four goals and 13 points in 53 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.
The Senators have been a disappointment so far this year and with the team already placing Matt Murray on waivers, who knows what player will be targeted next?
