19-year-old defenceman Ville Pokka has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New York Islanders.
Pokka, selected by New York in the second round of the 2012 draft, had six goals and 21 assists in 54 games with Karpat during his third full season in Liiga (Finland). Pokka was one of three finalists as the top defenceman in the league.
Pokka represented Finland at the past three World Junior championships, winning gold this year.
