The Vancouver Canucks just solidified their future with a massive contract extension. Star forward Elias Pettersson has inked a new eight-year deal worth a total of $92.8 million, securing his services through the 2031-32 season. The contract carries a hefty average annual value (AAV) of $11.6 million.

Pettersson, still only 25 years old, is already a dynamic force in the NHL. This season alone, he’s racked up 29 goals and 75 points in 62 games.

“This is a very important signing for the Vancouver Canucks,” said general manager Patrik Allvin in a statement. “Elias is one of the top players in the National Hockey League and is a key member of our leadership group. We know his best days are ahead of him and with his high-end skill and desire to be the best, we look forward to seeing Elias succeed and grow.”

The Swedish sensation, selected fifth overall by the Canucks in the 2017 NHL Draft, has quickly become a fan favorite in Vancouver. His dazzling puck-handling and elite scoring touch make him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Pettersson’s massive $92.8 million Canucks extension includes a hefty $47 million in signing bonuses. The deal also features a full no-movement clause (NMC), keeping him in control of his future.
