Ethan Bear
NHL trade rumors for Septembers 20, 2022 feature the Vancouver Canucks having interest in Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Ethan Bear.

The NHL preseason is just around the corner and the Vancouver Canucks are looking to shore up their defensive corps for the start of the NHL season.

NHL rumors are floating around that Canucks GM Patrick Allvin has interest in Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Ethan Bear.

Why are the Vancouver Canucks interested in Ethan Bear?

Vancouver is in need of a right-shot defenceman and Bear will block shots and is an effective penalty killer, which are two attributes the Canucks are seeking if they complete a Bear trade.

Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet confirms that right handed defenceman Ethan Bear is on the Canucks radar.

Ethan Bear, 25, was drafted 124th overall in the 2015 NHL draft. Last season he put up 14 points (5g, 9a) in 58 games. His season was hampered with COVID issues.

What is the asking price for a Ethan Bear trade

It is believed the Carolina Hurricanes are seeking a prospect or draft pick in a Bear trade. The Canes would love to free up the $2.2 million Hurricanes salary cap hit.

Rumors swirling around the internet would have the Canucks trade Nils Höglander for Ethan Bear. If this trade were to happen, Carolina is likely eating half of Bear’s salary or adding a sweetener for a trade to be completed.
