Steven Stamkos trade rumors

Steven Stamkos to the Toronto Maple Leafs

With the Tampa Bay Lightning reportedly offering Steven Stamkos a 8.5/million / year contract, and the Stamkos team rejecting it, it is looking like Stamkos will head to the NHL Trade Deadline with no new contract and will be an UFA July 1st, 2016. Rumors a split everywhere on what will happen. Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, Elliotte Friedman, Nick Kypreos all have no idea what Stamkos will do? Others are speculating that he will re-sign with Tampa. But most rumors suggest Stamkos will sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the summer. Even Roberto Luongo is having fun with the situation…

Only time will tell what will happen with Steven Stamkos…

St. Louis Blues unlikely to trade David Backes

The Fourth Period: The St. Louis Blues are unlikely to trade David Backes at the NHL Trade Deadline. Kevin Shattenkirk appears to the the Blue most likely to be traded. Blues GM Doug Armstrong told the Post-Dispatch. “The least likely scenario would be to trade Backes because we’re trying to win. A first-round pick does us no good when we’re going to this year’s playoffs. I think we’re going to be a good team and he’s a big part of being a good team. He’s our captain, he’s our leader. We’ve had the most points in the NHL over the last five or six years. I mean, he’s doing something right. If we didn’t want to keep him, we wouldn’t have talked to him in the first place. We’ve got now until March to find out where we’re at.”
