NHL trade rumors for May 5, 2022 feature the Montreal Canadiens looking to trade Shea Weber's contract this offseason.

It is really a shame that Shea Weber’s career had to end after the surprise Stanley Cup run by the Montreal Canadiens last year.

Weber is being forced to retire from a series of injuries he has accumulated over the years. Weber cannot officially retire until his contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Weber’s contract was shopped at the NHL trade deadline, with the Arizona Coyotes still the front runners to obtain Weber’s contract this offseason.

NHL Analyst Darren Dreger was on TSN690 radio and reported the only reason Shea Weber’s contract wasn’t moved to Arizona at the trade deadline was because there were papers that needed to be signed and money to be paid out.

Dreger expects his contract to be moved in the summer when they have more time to handle everything.
