tsn.ca: Pierre LeBrun claims the Vancouver Canucks seek a top-six forward sooner rather than later, and they’re not thinking playoff rental.

NICHOLS ON HOCKEY: The Taylor Hall rumors are picking up again. TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports the Edmonton Oilers aren’t shopping Hall but he thinks they could entertain the notion, though such a move would happen in the offseason. Hall would look good in a Toronto Maple Leaf Jersey. It would take a Nazem Kadri and Jake Gardiner package for Hall.

Edmonton Journal: With Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Olli Maatta out for the year with shoulder surgery the Pens will be looking for a blueline rental at the NHL trade deadline. Since Penguins GM Jim Rutherford worked in Carolina, you can bet he’ll be all over soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Hurricanes defenceman Andrei Sekera.
