Pierre-Luc Dubois trade to Montreal could happen this summer
Will the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens work out a deal to complete a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade this offseason?

Pierre-Luc Dubois has been in the NHL trade rumors mill for the past few years after he let the Winnipeg Jets know he would not sign a long-term contract extension with the team.

Rumors have been rather quiet the past few months on what the Jets will do with Dubois but it is looking like he could become a Montreal Canadien this summer.

Will Pierre-Luc Dubois be traded to the Montreal Canadiens this offseason?

Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts podcast and stated the Winnipeg Jets have talked to the Montreal Canadiens on-and-off all season long and there is a 95% he will become a Hab.

Dubois is due a new contract this summer, but Winnipeg still owns his rights as he is a restricted free agent. For the Jets to retain his rights, they would have to qualify him at a 1-year deal worth $6 million, then he becomes a UFA in the summer of 2024.

If there is no-way Dubois signs a long-term deal with the Jets this offseason, Dubois, 24, will be traded and likely to the Montreal Canadiens.

What are Habs fans saying about a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade to Montreal?

I would offer the Jets a 2nd + Dvorak + Prospect (Roy/Kidney/Farrell/??) for Dubois.

As a Habs fan, we’re in a rebuild I wouldn’t give away our 2024 1st round pick.

Pierre-Luc Dubois will be traded this summer to the team that gives up the most. If the Habs wait, it will cost them a lot more to sign him as a UFA a year from now then it will this summer.
