The Philadelphia Flyers are looking to be buyers at the NHL trade deadline as they make a push for the playoffs.

The Philadelphia Flyers will NOT be sellers at the 2021 NHL trade deadline. The Flyers are in a playoff spot battle with the Boston Bruins for the 4th and final spot in the East Division.

Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher has stated, “We’re certainly not looking at selling right now, I would say to you in my calls with managers around the league, first of all, I’ve received very few calls. It’s been really quiet in terms of receiving calls.”

The Flyers are seeking defensive help at the trade deadline and NHL Rumors has the Flyers targeting Mattias Ekholm and David Savard.

The problem the Flyers have, like many other teams is salary cap space. The Flyers currently have $1.45 million in cap space available.

The Flyers would have to ship out a player with salary to be able to take on Ekholm’s or Savard’s contract and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of teams out there willing to take on dollars and term at this point in time.
