Will the Carolina Hurricanes trade Dougie Hamilton

Sportsnet: The Carolina Hurricanes will be looking to make some trades as the 2019 NHL trade deadline approaches and Dougie Hamilton could be one of the players the Hurricanes are looking to trade.

Elliotte Friedman reports the Hurricanes have four right-shot defencemen, they’ve been asked about Hamilton. If you’re willing to come back to them with a scorer I think that they would consider doing it.

Hamilton has 13 points and eight assists this season and as a right-shot defenceman who’s only 25-years-old he could offer a fair bit of value, particularly because he’s under contract until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Latest Ottawa Senators trade rumors

The Hockey News: The Ottawa Senators have a lot of cap space and would like to re-sign Matt Duchene and Mark Stone to contract extensions. To re-sign the pair, the Sens will likely have to pay them $9 million each per season.

If Stone and Duchene aren’t signed before the NHL Trade Deadline, does GM Pierre Dorion have to consider trading them? Duchene and Stone would bring in absolutely monstrous returns if dangled as trade-deadline rentals: we’re talking first-round picks, high-end prospects and/or useful young roster players.

The ideal – and also the likeliest – scenario brings both players back to Ottawa on eight-year deals. After all, even a young team needs some good prime-year veterans around to show them how to win.
