Winnipeg Jets - NHL trade rumors April 23, 2019
What will the Winnipeg Jets do this off-season? Will they trade one of Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele or Dustin Byfuglien to shake things up?

What will the Winnipeg Jets do this off-season?

Winnipeg Free Press: Mike McIntyre reports Winnipeg Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff raised some eyebrows when he opened the door to potential changes to the leadership group, which includes captain Blake Wheeler and assistants Mark Scheifele and Dustin Byfuglien.

McIntyre feels there’s too much of a divide between the existing leaders and the very young core on the team, which includes stars such as Patrik Laine, Nikolaj Ehlers, Kyle Connor and Jack Roslovic. Josh Morrissey has the ability to be a perfect bridge.

Don’t be surprised if the full off-season review of hockey operations doesn’t include assessing the work of long-time assistants such as Charlie Huddy, who focuses on the defence, and Wade Flaherty, who works with the goaltenders.

On Monday’s exit meeting Jacob Trouba kept his comments fairly brief – which will lead many to speculate he may have played his final game as a member of the Jets.

The Jets will be focused on re-signing Laine and Connor this off-season and will likely not be able to afford Tyler Myers, Brandon Tanev and Kevin Hayes.
