Sportsnet: Nick Kypreos is reporting Riley Sheahan has drawn some interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs. If the Leafs want Sheahan that could cost the Leafs as much as a first-rounder. The Leafs are also interested in Red Wings defenceman Brendan Smith, who’ll be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Penguins and Capitals interested in Kevin Shattenkirk
The Ottawa Sun: The St. Louis Blues will trade defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk at the NHL Trade Deadline to avoid losing him for nothing over the summer. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals, among other teams, are in the running for Shattenkirk. The Blues are reportedly looking for a first-round pick and a talented prospect in any deal.
New York Islanders interested in Brian Gionta?
New York Post: Larry Brooks thinks soon to be free-agent Brian Gionta could be a good fit with the New York Islanders. Gionta, 38, is in the final year of three-year, $4.25 million contract with a modified no-trade clause. The veteran has 12 goals and 15 assists over 61 games.
