With Steven Stamkos out until the playoffs, the team will have about $8 million in cap space to target a defenceman. The Lightning have been seeking a top-four right-handed defenseman. While they’re not pursuing anyone right now, they could take a look at who’s available as the 2017 NHL trade deadline nears.
New York Islanders seek a top-tier forward thru trade
NBC Sports: The New York Islanders are shopping hard for a forward. Some potential trade options are Colorado Avalanche center Matt Duchene, Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Brandon Saad, Buffalo’s Evander Kane, Arizona’s Radim Vrbata, Toronto’s James van Riemsdyk and Anaheim’s Andrew Cogliano. John Tavares needs help up front. The Islanders has such a promising team, now GM Garth Snow has ruined the team once again.
Dallas Stars looking to trade Jamie Oleksiak
The Fourth Period: The Dallas Stars are believed to be trying to trade defenseman Jamie Oleksiak. Oleksiak, 23, has played in just five games with the Stars this season, registering seven penalty minutes. It’s unclear what type of return the Stars are looking for, or whether or not they’d prefer to move Oleksiak in a package for a greater asset.
