The Fourth Period: The Toronto Maple Leafs and the LA Kings continue to discuss a Dion Phaneuf trade. In order for a trade to happen the Kings will need to shed some salary in order to accommodate Phaneuf’s $7 million annual salary cap hit. The Leafs will likely be required to pay a portion of Phaneuf’s salary, Toronto has expressed interest in Kings forwards Kyle Clifford, Nick Shore and Dwight King, defenseman Brayden McNabb, and prospects Jordan Weal and Adrian Kempe. The Leafs have been scouting the Kings AHL affiliate the Manchester Monarchs.
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman reports the Dallas Stars could have interest in Carolina Hurricanes blueliner Andrej Sekera. The Tampa Bay Lightning could be interested in Arizona Coyotes defenseman Zbynek Michalek
Winnipeg Sun: The Winnipeg Jets are seeking a top-nine forward. The Jets still have a glut of defensemen. Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun expects they’ll try to move one of their depth blueliners for a checking-line forward.
