Florida Panthers forward Sean Bergenheim has requested to be traded after being scratched from the lineup. Bergenheim, 31, is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. With the trade deadline 18 days away, Bergenheim’s camp is hoping for a quick resolution.
Fireandice.com: New Jersey Devils forward Michael Ryder has been a healthy scratch for seven consecutive games following the all-star break. Ryder insists he is not thinking about the NHL trade deadline.
“Whatever happens, happens. I just want to play hockey and win,” he said. “I know I can help a team – help this team if I’m here or wherever else. If I get traded, I get traded. There’s not much I can do about it. I’m not losing any sleep about it.”
