Will Patrick Marleau be traded to Arizona

TSN: Pierre LeBrun reports the Toronto Maple Leafs and Arizona Coyotes have discussed a Patrick Marleau trade.

LeBrun added his sense is that for the Coyotes to get more interested in taking Marleau in a trade, the Maple Leafs would have to attach a premium asset as well.

Marleau has one year remaining on his three-year, $18.75 million deal that includes a no-move clause. He would be willing to waive his no-move clause to be in Arizona. The move would free up much needed cap space for the Maple Leafs.

Toronto would have to sweeten the deal for a trade to happen. They would likely have to send a draft pick or top-end prospect for a trade to be completed.

The Colorado Avalanche and LA Kings also have interest in Marleau and he would be willing to waive his no-move clause to play on the West coast.

Calgary looking to trade a defenceman

Flames Nation: The Calgary Flames are looking to make a big move on their back end. Bob McKenzie reported on his bobcast, the Flames are looking to trade one of TJ Brodie or Travis Hamonic.

The Flames need to move a defenceman as they are trying to free up dollars to be able to sign restricted free agent Matthew Tkachuk.

Hamonic and Brodie are both entering the final years of their contracts, with Hamonic carrying a $3.857 million cap hit and Brodie a $4.65 million cap hit.
