Nail Yakupov

Jim Matheson: If Ryan O’Reilly is in play for defence in Colorado are teams calling Edmonton for Jordan Eberle knowing Oilers need a defenceman too?

The Forth Period: The Montreal Canadiens have been looking for another goal-scoring winger for the last few seasons, and may have set their sights on their next target. The Habs would “love” to get their hands on Nail Yakupov, according to a League source. Bergevin appears to be intrigued at the prospect of reuniting Galchenyuk and Yakupov, who played together in the OHL. The Florida Panthers also have an interest in Yakupov.

The Hockey News: The Boston Bruins are actively looking for scoring help. GM Peter Chiarelli was believed to be in talks with St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong, sparking speculation he was pursuing Patrik Berglund or T.J. Oshie. Chiarelli would love to trade winger Loui Eriksson ($4.25 million), but given Eriksson’s ongoing struggles he’s a tough sell at this point.
