Picture of Mark Scheifele. Will the New York Rangers trade for the forward?
NHL rumors have the New York Rangers interested in making a trade for Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele.

The New York Rangers are Stanley Cup contenders. They loaded up at the NHL trade deadline with Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko and it backfired last season.

They are now looking to add a center this offseason and have their sights set on Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele.

Will the New York Rangers trade for Mark Scheifele?

The NHL rumors mill is churning on the New York Rangers. They are looking to make a splash this offseason and are looking at Winnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele.

The Jets are likely asking for Filip Chytil and a 1st round pick in a Scheifele trade. Chytil brings the Jets a young, offensive forward with term. He is under contract for four more seasons with a $4,437,500/year cap hit.

The Rangers give up a solid young player in Chytil, but the Rangers are in win now mode and New York Rangers owner James Dolan wants a Stanley Cup and will sacrifice youth for the holy grail.

What are Rangers fans saying about a Mark Scheifele trade?

Mark Scheifele is entering the last year of his contract. Not sure I would give up a first round pick for him.

The Rangers should have tried this trade last year and not make the awful deals for Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko.

Not sure we will land Scheifele. But I expect the Rangers to make a big trade this offseason. Dolan is impatient and will follow what the Vegas Golden Knight did and just trade away assets for big name players.

  1. Hockey is a great sport but salaries are getting out of hand like other sport. I am a ny ranger fan have been and always will be. Is there no team loyalty among players or is everything money money and money. The owners have a right to obtain proper players but at what costs. When i worked i mad 70000.00 and put at least 60 hours a week no overtime due to i was part of management. If i complained about time and pay they would state theirs the door. Now you are signing players with poor records for multi million contracts and yet they still complain. I refuse to spend my hard earned dollars and go to a game which i did many times.Reporter do not disagree with these contracts but favor them. Now I have to put hockey on hold like with basketball-baseball.Their salary demands are ridiculous today.
