Will the Detroit Red Wings trade Jimmy Howard?

ESPN: Jimmy Howard has played well for the Detroit Red Wings, but GM Ken Holland would still like to move him. Should Howard continue playing well, he could be enticing for teams in desperate need of goaltending help. His $5.2-million annual salary-cap hit and modified no-trade clause, however, remain significant stumbling blocks in working out a trade.

Are the Carolina Hurricanes dangling Ryan Murphy?

The Hockey News: Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ryan Murphy could become available in the trade market. Murphy, 23, a right-shot blueliner needs less than 40 games to qualify for exposure in next June’s NHL expansion draft. Hurricanes GM Ron Francis could move him before then instead of losing him for nothing in the June expansion draft. Murphy also carries a very affordable $787,000 annual cap hit on a two-year deal.

The New York Islanders have scouted the Kings recently in multiple games, but it’s unclear if trade talks between the two clubs are ongoing.
