The Hockey News: What will the Calgary Flames do in the off season? With over $25 million in salary-cap space, Flames GM Brad Treliving also has the cash to add some experienced outside talent. The Flames should surround their young talent with the right veterans by dipping into this summer’s UFA market. Trevliving could target Chicago Blackhawks center Antoine Vermette as one option.
The Fourth Period: It looks like the Edmonton Oilers are close to finding a new head coach, with Todd McLellan believed to be ahead of the pack. GM Peter Chiarelli has already met with McLellan and current Oilers interim coach Todd Nelson, and both are in the running for the job. The Oilers are expected to name a new coach in the not-too-distant future, likely before the end of May.
Buffalo Sabres: The Sabres have the two first round picks #2 and #21 in this years NHL entry draft. They will likely trade the #21 pick to land a goalie or another forward.
They’ll try to trade it for either a goalie or with a player to move up. Might be hard to do the latter. https://t.co/JXUW6jvVkA
