Tampa Bay Times: The Tampa Bay Lightning are looking at trading d-man Matt Carle. He has a modified no-trade clause and carries an annual cap hit of $5.5 million through 2017-18. Carle would rather stay with the Lightning, but he has been a healthy scratch the last few games and if he wants more playing time, Carle will have to waive his no-trade clause.
The Ottawa Sun: The Philadelphia Flyers are trying to free up cap space. GM Ron Hextall had no success trying to trade defenseman Luke Schenn. The Flyers would like center Vincent Lecavalier to retire to free up cap space for the club. But that is very unlikely to happen.
