Ottawa Senators looking to trade Cody Ceci?
TSN Radio 1200: Bob McKenzie was on the radio in Ottawa and was asked about the Ottawa Senators and what they will do at the NHL trade deadline? We all know they will be sellers, but who are they going to trade?
Cody Ceci will be a restricted free agent on July 1 and McKenzie was asked what he thinks they will do with him?
Mckenzie said, “I think in the case of Ceci because he’s on the one-year deal… RFA at the end of this year – I think that the notion of trading Cody Ceci is within the realm of possibility,” “And that it wouldn’t surprise me if the Senators have gotten calls on Ceci and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Ottawa Senators are earnestly listening on those.
Ceci, 25, re-signed with the Senators last summer on a one-year, $4.3 million contract. Through 42 games this season, he has five goals and 12 points with a minus-20 rating.
What trades will the Edmonton Oilers make?
Edmonton Journal: After Ryan Rishaug’s twitter post yesterday stating, The Edmonton Oilers organization is on a full court press to find help at forward. Scouts and staff deployed en masse. Cap situation could make it tough, but first round pick, a goaltender, maybe a young developing forward likely all in play.
Kevin Leavins is also reporting the Oilers are shopping Cam Talbot in search of a forward.
Leavins noted that both Talbot, who carries a $4.167 million cap hit, and Mikko Koskinen are pending free agents and the team is unlikely to re-sign both this summer.
Talbot has a limited no-trade clause which allows him to submit a list of 10 teams approved for a trade.
If the Oilers are to make a trade, most teams will want Darnell Nurse or Adam Larsson for a scoring forward. There will likely be not much interest in Talbot.
