TSN: Darren Dreger speculates the Ottawa Senators could leave winger Bobby Ryan exposed in this June’s NHL expansion draft. Leaving Ryan exposed is no certainly he’ll be claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights. He’s got five years remaining on his contract at an annual cap hit of $7.25 million.
Tampa Bay looking to trade Valtteri Filppula
The Fourth Period: GM Steve Yzerman is exploring the trade market on a number of his players, including center Valtteri Filppula. Filppula, 32, has one-year left on his contract after this season and comes with a $5 million cap hit. He also owns a limited no-movement clause, where he can list at least 16 teams he would accept a trade to. Yzerman has been shopping Filppula, though it’s unclear what type of return he’s looking for, or if he’s trying to package Filppula in a larger deal for a top-pair defenseman.
