NHL rumors for January 6, 2022 have the LA Kings interested in making a Jakob Chychrun trade. The big question is would the Kings give up Quinton Byfield?

NHL Rumors have been floating around for the past month that the Arizona Coyotes have let teams know that Jakob Chychrun is available for trade.

It has been reported that the Edmonton Oilers are one of the teams interested in a Chychrun trade. The big question is can the Oilers afford to take on his salary and do they have the assets to complete the trade.

Lisa Dillman of The Athletic reports the LA Kings could make a trade for Chychrun as they have the assets to complete the trade. The only untouchable would be Quinton Byfield.

Dillman went on to say for the Kings to make a Chychrun trade they could offer up the following package: A first-round pick in 2022 (lottery-protected), defenseman Tobias Bjornfot and a choice of any two of the following: Gabriel Vilardi, Rasmus Kupari or Alex Turcotte.

Not sure if Dillman’s package is enough. Chychrun has a team friendly salary cap hit of $4.6 million for another three years after this season, he is an elite defenceman and it will likely take a little more from the Kings to complete a Chychrun trade.
