Kevin Bieksa

Miami Herald: The Florida Panthers, who were interested in acquiring Cam Talbot from the New York Rangers, thought they had landed the goaltender for a package of picks and forward Jimmy Hayes.

Florida was offering a collection of draft picks (believed to be its two in the third round as well as one in the fifth) and, according to the New York Post, restricted free agent Jimmy Hayes.

Talbot ended up being traded to the Edmonton Oilers.

Sportsnet.ca: The Vancouver Canucks San Jose Sharks deal for Kevin Bieksa was so close, Bieksa looked at homes in San Jose.

There were reports the trade fell apart because Bieksa wanted an extension. An executive for another team guessed it would end up in the area of three years and $12M.

Elliotte Friedman: Dougie Hamilton had a ‘very significant’ offer on the table from the Boston Bruins prior to the trade, which he rejected. The best information I can give you is it appears Boston offered six years and $33M to Hamilton, while the response was about $2M per year higher.
