Patrick Kane
Are the New York Islanders interested in a Patrick Kane trade? If they want to be a playoff contender they need Patrick Kane.

The NHL offseason continues to talk about Patrick Kane and the latest NHL trade rumors have the New York Islanders interested in a Kane trade.

It is no secret that the Isles need a scoring forward and GM Lou Lamoriello could target Kane based on the report below.

Why do the New York Islanders need to trade for Patrick Kane?

The Islanders need someone to play with Mathew Barzal and Patrick Kane would be the perfect fit.

On the Cam and Strick podcast, Andy Strickland suggests Kane is a player to watch later in the season for the Islanders. Kane will not be traded until the NHL trade deadline and GM Lou Lamoriello will be all in on him if he is still available.

Teams in the Metropolitan Division made a lot of moves this offseason to get better and contend for a playoff spot. The Islanders are not in a rebuild mode and believe they are a playoff team.

They need a game breaker to contend with the Penguins, Hurricanes, Rangers and Blue Jackets. If they do not acquire a player like Kane, it is likely the Islanders are missing the playoffs once again.

Strickland continued to say in his podcast that if the Islanders are indeed battling for a playoff spot and Lamoriello knows Kane well from USA Hockey, that Kane would consider a trade to Long Island.
