With all the NHL rumors circulating that the Toronto Maple Leafs are trading William Nylander, another forward in the Leafs’ lineup might be dealt.
Rumors are starting to make the rounds that the Maple Leafs could trade playmaking forward Mitch Marner instead of Nylander. One possible destination for Marner is the New York Rangers.

Yahoo Sports recently posted an article and suggested the Maple Leafs and New York Rangers would be compatible trade partners.
NHL trade rumors have the Blue Shirts offering up center Filip Chytil, right-wing Kaapo Kakko, and defenseman Ryan Lindgren for Mitch Marner.
The trade allows the Leafs to save $ 1.33 million in salary cap space and relieves salary cap pressure on the Rangers, who would have had to re-sign Kakko and Lindgren next offseason.

I would rather give the Leafs Alexis Lafreniere rather than Kakko in the proposed trade to the Leafs.
As a Ranger fan, I will take Marner. They can have Kakko, Chytil and Lindgren. Kakko is a bust. I like Laff and with a new coach, he will excel.
You know what? I say that Nylander is poison with regards to team unity and winning . Only dollars matter like his dad. Marner is probably the most over rated player in hockey as his highlight real plays mask his atrocious give aways poor shot selection and no regard for the simple play. The Rangers would regret this. Marner will once again disappear in the playoffs, does not like the dirty areas. He would be lucky that Gerard Gallant is still not there.

I’d would keep marner over Nylander and even matthews. That would be a quick way to up grade defense and get good forwards that want to play. Problem is marner will want more when time comes.

Whether or not Leafs fans like this rumored trade is irrelevant. This would THE DUMBEST move the Rangers have EVER made. We already have a Mitch Marner; his name is Artemi Panarin. Why on God’s green earth would the Rangers want another regular season maestro who completely disappears come playoff time? We already know who Marner is. Hopefully with our new coach, Kaapo Kakko can show the world who HE really is. I would keep Marner over 2 Nylanders!! #16 shows more heart, more energy and more live of the game than both Nylander and Matthews. Both of whom look bored on the ice. Muzzin will cut it to 5 m once he goes on IR
Murray will cut it to about 2m over

Marner no trade clause toronto boy — not going anywhere
Tavares no trade clause toronto boy —- not going anywhere
Nylander 10 team no trade clause,, if he doesn’t come down from his 10m request he will be traded either for a good player that has a lower cap hit and a really good prospect to save cap space
Or they could do a one for one swap star for star and try resigning that player — several really good players from Calgary have stated they will not resign so theirs a good opportunity to maybe bolster the defence

I wouldn’t even do this straight up for Kakko. Why tie up that much additional money for one player who has already shown what he’s made of come playoff time? Kakko hasn’t had a real opportunity yet to show what he can do. With top minutes and PP time, he’s ready to bust out. He’s everything the Rangers need going forward, with a new coach who will hopefully allow him to realize his tremendous potential. We already have Panarin for fancy assists and ZERO playoff contributions. With Kakko at least there’s hope for a postseason monster. Let the Leafs choke on Marner’s contract and playoff invisibility!
