Marco Rossi Minnesota Wild. Will he be traded to the New York Rangers?
The New York Rangers are reportedly interested in acquiring young forward Marco Rossi from the Minnesota Wild.

The New York Rangers have been a hotbed of NHL trade rumors lately, linked to everyone from Steven Stamkos to, most recently, Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi. Could the Blueshirts be looking to add the young Austrian center to their roster?

According to Peter Baugh of The Athletic, the Wild are open to moving Rossi but are seeking a player-for-player trade. This has piqued the interest of Rangers General Manager Chris Drury, who is reportedly a fan of Rossi’s potential. However, the asking price could be steep.

What Would a Marco Rossi Trade Cost the New York Rangers?

A straight swap of Kaapo Kakko for Rossi likely won’t get it done. The Rangers would probably need to sweeten the deal with a high-end prospect or a first-round draft pick. Rossi, 23, the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, has shown flashes of brilliance with 23 points in 27 games this season but he has butted heads with Wild management and would welcome a trade out of Minnesota.

From my perspective, this trade makes sense for both teams. The Wild, with a roster loaded with veterans, could use a young, established NHL player like Kakko who can contribute immediately. Meanwhile, the Rangers, who are looking to inject some youth and skill into their lineup, would be getting a player with a high ceiling in Rossi.

Of course, any deal hinges on Wild General Manager Bill Guerin’s valuation of Rossi and what he believes is fair value in return. It’s a situation worth monitoring closely as the NHL trade deadline approaches.
