With the Arizona Coyotes in complete rebuild mode, NHL trade rumors are going around that Phil Kessel has requested to be traded.

The Coyotes paid Kessel’s $5 million bonus he was due on July 1st, the team is looking to trade the player. Kessel is only owed $1 million in real dollars to finish off the final year of his current contract, the Coyotes are hoping there’s a team out there willing to take on his salary cap without having to actually spend all that much.

Craig Morgan of the AZ Coyotes Insider reports Kessel would like to be traded to the Vegas Golden Knights but there is no interest from Vegas in making that trade.

Kessel’s cap hit is $6.8 million and if the Coyotes are willing to retain 50% of the cap hit, a trade will likely happen. The big question is, which team will make the trade?

Teams that could have interest in Kessel are the Edmonton Oilers, Seattle Kraken and the Detroit Red Wings.
