NHL trade rumors floated around at the NHL trade deadline that the Minnesota Wild were interested in trading Kevin Fiala but nothing materialized.
The Wild had two options, sign Fiala and trade Matt Dumba or keep Dumba and trade Fiala. GM Bill Guerin had publicly stated he had no intention of trading Dumba so that left Fiala as the odd man out.
The Wild get the LA Kings 2022 first-round pick and University of Minnesota captain Brock Faber in exchange for Fiala.
Elliotte Friedman reported earlier today that something was up on the trade front. This is what he said:
After the trade was announced, Fiala signed a seven-year deal worth $55,125,000 with the Los Angeles Kings. The contract has a Kings salary cap hit of $7,875,000 per year.
