NHL insider Frank Seravalli hints at a potential Jeremy Swayman trade to the Philadelphia Flyers. Could this be the solution to Philly's goaltending woes?

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Flyers are in desperate need of a franchise goaltender. After years of inconsistency between the pipes, the Flyers are once again searching for that elusive backbone to solidify their roster. Enter Jeremy Swayman.

The Boston Bruins netminder has been the subject of trade rumors ever since his contentious arbitration hearing last summer. Bruins management, in an attempt to gain leverage, publicly criticized Swayman’s play, leaving a sour taste in the young goalie’s mouth. NHL insider Frank Seravalli recently fueled the fire, suggesting on Sportsnet 590 radio that the Flyers could be the perfect landing spot for Swayman.

And frankly, it makes a lot of sense.

Flyers Emerge as Potential Destination for Bruins Goaltender

The Flyers have the assets to entice the Bruins, including a prospect pool that is starting to deepen. They also have the cap space to absorb Swayman’s next contract, which is expected to be a significant raise from his current deal.

From Swayman’s perspective, Philadelphia offers a fresh start and an opportunity to be “the guy.” He wouldn’t be sharing the crease with an established veteran, and he would be joining a team that, while rebuilding, has some exciting young pieces in place.

Of course, there are hurdles to overcome. The Bruins may be reluctant to trade Swayman within the conference, and the Flyers will need to ensure they aren’t mortgaging their future for a goaltender who, while promising, still has something to prove.

However, the potential reward is undeniable. Swayman has the talent to be a true difference-maker in the NHL. If the Flyers can acquire him, they could finally have the answer in net they’ve been searching for.
