With the surprising second round exit of the Florida Panthers, the surprise part being swept in four games to the Tampa Bay Lightning. NHL trade rumors are starting to float around that the Panthers have been trying to trade Sergei Bobrovsky all season.
Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet Radio 590 and discussed the Bobrovsky rumors. Friedman believes the Panthers tried hard to trade him this year or at least lay the ground work to do it.
Friedman went on to say, I don’t know if it’s possible but I’ve heard they really worked on it, like they really tried to see if it’s possible.
The only way Florida will be able to trade Bobrovsky is if it comes with a major sweetener and Florida eating 50% of his $10 million salary cap hit… if not, he’ll be a Panther for the remainder of his deal.
The Washington Capitals could be one team that would have interest.
