The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded forward R.J. Umberger to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange forward Scott Hartnell and a 2015 fourth-round pick.
Hartnell, 32, scored 20 goals and added 32 assists for 52 points last season with a plus-11 rating in 78 games. Hartnell is entering the second year of a six-year, $28.5 million deal.
Umberger, 32, scored 18 goals and added 16 assists with a minus-3 rating in 74 games with the Blue Jackets in 2013-2014. Umberger has three years left on his contract with an average annual value of $4.6 million.
