A few NHL teams have encountered long-term injury issues and know that the Montreal Canadiens have an excess amount of forwards which is leading to phone calls to GM Kent Hughes on the availability of some of the Habs forwards.
Habs management would like to trade forward Jonathan Drouin but the player most teams are interested in is Christian Dvorak. He carries an affordable $4.45 million cap hit through 2024-25 and has been playing well to start the season.
Flyers and Senators want to make a Christian Dvorak trade
Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators were interested in a Christian Dvorak trade in the offseason but nothing materialized.
With the Sens loosing Josh Norris for the year, they are looking to fill the void and could target Dvorak once again.
Dvorak could have been had for cheap in the offseason, but with him playing well this season, the asking price has gone up and it will be interesting to see if the Sens will pay the higher price.
Philadelphia Flyers
Like the Ottawa Senators the Philadelphia Flyers lost a major piece in their lineup with Sean Couturier out a minimum of four months after back surgery.
Flyers management have been making calls to the Habs on Dvorak. The Flyers were a team thought to be part of ‘tank nation’ for the chance to draft Connor Bedard. But with their excellent play to start the season, the direction of the team might have changed.
If the Flyers are in playoff contention by American Thanksgiving, they could make a strong push for a Dvorak trade.
