Like many Stanley Cup contenders, the Edmonton Oilers made a serious pitch for former San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier at the NHL trade deadline.
Meier ended up being traded to the New Jersey Devils for a 2023 first-round pick, 2024 conditional first-round pick and a slew of other minor league players.
Here is the full breakdown of the Meier trade:

Edmonton Oilers were interested in a Timo Meier trade
Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts TV segment on Hockey Night in Canada and stated the Edmonton Oilers made a significant trade offer to the San Jose Sharks for Timo Meier.
Friedman did not reveal what was offered from the Oilers but not they could not obviously trump the offer that was made from the Devils. Keep in mind that Meier is still a restricted free agent at the end of the year as he did not sign a contract extension with the Devils when he was traded.
What are Oiler fans saying about the potential Meier trade to Edmonton?
Timo Meier to Edmonton would have been HUGE. I am bummed we missed out.
If it came down to the choice between Meier and Ekholm.. I’m glad we got Ekholm.
Screw Meier. GM Ken Holland should have found a Jack Campbell replacement!
