NHL Trade rumors going around have the Montreal Canadiens looking at trading Victor Mete. Mete has played games on the top pairing with Shea Weber over the past three seasons, but can’t seem to find his way into the lineup this season.
The Canadiens cannot put him on waivers as he a good defenceman and a team will claim him. Mete, 22 is a terrific skater and can move the puck up ice with ease.
It’s not ideal to have a young defenceman sitting in the press box watching games and joining the team at practice. This has other teams sniffing around to gauge interest in a trade to acquire Mete.
As of right now, teams will not give a first round pick for Mete. They probably don’t even want to part with a second rounder. Which leads to the conclusion that Mete is probably more valuable to just keep as an extra skater in case someone gets injured and misses time. This is a situation to be watched for sure if Mete continues to sit in the press box as the NHL season goes along.
