NHL trade rumors for April 3, 2022 feature the Boston Bruins coming close to trading for Jakob Cychrun but they would not give up Jeremy Swayman.

Jakob Chychrun was the hot commodity on the NHL trade rumor mill this past trade deadline but ultimately the Arizona Coyotes decided to keep him as GM Bill Armstrong could not get back the assets he needed to complete a Chychrun trade.

Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now reports the Bruins were close to landing Chychrun at the NHL trade deadline but no deal could be made as the Coyotes wanted goalie Jeremy Swayman as part of the deal. After no deal could be worked out, the Bruins went and made a trade for Hampus Lindholm.

Murphy went on to say, GM Don Sweeney had plenty of big time trade offers if he wanted to trade Swayman, but the Bruins weren’t ever trading Swayman. He’s the man for awhile.

In the offseason the Bruins will have to decide what to do with Linus Ullmark and his four-year contract that carries a $5 million cap hit?

Swayman, 23, was drafted 111th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 4th round of the 2017 entry draft. He will be a RFA at the end of the 2022-23 season when he is 24 years old and if he keeps up his great play, he will be due a big contract.
